Paediatric Communication

Infant/child Feeding and Swallowing

We assess and treat a range of childhood speech and language concerns such as: 


• Speech sound disorders/articulation (difficulty saying certain speech sounds) 

• Early language delay (late talking, fewer words than expected) 

• Communication challenges related to autism, cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, genetic conditions, and prematurity 

• Stuttering 

• Voice disorders, vocal cord dysfunction

Infant/child Feeding and Swallowing

We have extensive experience in assessing and treating a variety of paediatric feeding and swallowing challenges, which include: 


• Feeding tube weaning 

• Dysphagia rehabilitation 

• Managing restricted diets or 'picky eaters' 

• Addressing delayed oral motor skills and difficulty transitioning to solid foods 

• Overcoming early breast and bottle feeding challenges 

• Tackling sensory feeding challenges 

• Aspiration management and thickener weaning 

• Navigating complex feeding challenges in the context of genetic and/or developmental conditions

Adults

We assess and treat a variety of speech, language and swallowing concerns in the adult population, including: 


• Dysarthria (slurred or slow speech, often occurring post brain injury) 

• Aphasia (language difficulty acquired after a brain injury, such as a stroke) 

• Oral and pharyngeal dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) 

• Communication and/or swallowing issues related to head & neck cancer, conditions like MND, Parkinson’s disease, myasthenia gravis, and other neurological disorders 

• Communication and/or swallowing issues related to Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)

• Voice disorders, vocal cord dysfunction

Laryngology / upper airway

Our experienced team specialises in assessing and managing a variety of upper airway disorders that can affect communication and/or result in feeding and swallowing challenges. We address conditions such as: 


• Dysphonia (voice difficulty) 

• Vocal nodules 

• Vocal cord palsy 

• Vocal cord dysfunction (also known as inducible laryngeal obstruction) including exercise-induced 

 • Laryngeal cleft 

• Complex airway challenges like laryngeal reconstruction, subglottic stenosis, and obstruction 

• Tracheostomy 

• Laryngomalacia
